The City of Vancouver’s new website design removed a great deal of information from the Mountain View Cemetery website. Interesting Mountain View is set up to capture some of that material.

If you are searching for someone interred at Mountain View there are four methods right now. 1. Drop into the office between 8:30 and 4:00pm. 2. Use Vanmap, the City’s mapping application, on the right, at the top of the page under applications look for Mountain View Cemetery. Here you can search and locate people buried in the cemetery. 3. The cemetery also has an app available in Apple’s app store which allows you to search the database and locate a grave on a map. 4. And of course you can see the old website at former.vancouver.ca/cemetery

At the moment much of the material on this blog comes from the Interesting Citizens pages which told the stories of some of the thousands of people interred there. Written by volunteers, these pocket histories offer an interesting insight into our local history. Additional information will appear over time.
